What a breath of fresh air this is. So many people (IRL and on here) are such shameless bullshitters when it comes to discussing their hunting situations. "Aw Bruh, i need something that can get out to 500-600 yards baw." No, no you don't. You're not taking, much less making, any animal shots at that distance in LA, so take this 2-10x42 and have a nice day.
This will catch some flak, but if you're confident you will be making mostly sub-200yd shots, consider a fixed 6x scope. A fixed power scope will take in far more light than an adj mag scope, and 6x will be fine for most LA hunting

You're exactly right Carson.
I like a high powered scope to zoom in close on animals, but turn it down at dark. You can notice the difference in light gathering ability if you look through the scope as you're lowering the zoom.

I like a variable scope (~10x) solely because i dont take binos with me. I use it to examine racks, etc. But as far as shooting, 6x would be fine.

I've hunted several places, including the one I'm on now, that have pipelines running through them. You could shoot as far as you wanted. Some guys have the nice scopes with the elevation thing build in and use it to make those far shots. And what if someone would want to go hunt Texas or something where a far shot is possible. When you buy these nice scopes you will have them for many years. Might as well pay a little extra for extra features.
