I'm not saying it's never been rigged, but if they did rig it they'd make sure Magic kept his damn mouth shut. Favoring 1 team disfavors 29 others. You have to really do something special to make 29 other owners look away, like maybe buy a toxic franchise off their hands at a premium price.

Regardless of who wins, there is always a rigging narrative. Going into last draft the NBA was going to reward Philly for ending The Process.
If the NBA wants to rig the draft it would just be some combination of Celtics, Lakers, and Knicks in the top 3.
