The only problems I would have with adoption are based on the fact that you supposedly anywhere really have no idea what the kid's genetic history is like. His mom could be a 450lb whale of a woman and his dad could have a genetic disease that gets passed down to other members of his family. At least between a husband and a wife, you have some idea of what your kid should look like and what sort of health problems they're most likely to face as they age.
I do admire those families who adopt though.

There are adoptive services that you can get a bit of information on the parents and their health histories. Probably not the case for foster home children though.
