This has nothing to do with Hinch IMO because he isn't the GM.
I also don't think they signed/traded for guys like Carter, Valbuena, Rasmus etc with the expectation they would be key pieces on a championship team. They were low risk high reward moves because of where the team was at when they made them. Once the building blocks that came up through the system as part of the rebuild proved they were ready (Springer, Correa, McCullers, Bregman) they went out and spent the money to get the veteran pieces to compliment them

It could have everything to do w Hinch.
He may have personally put in for the specific acquisitions.
In the case of Beltran, I know this to be true.
