This is one case where stats don't tell the whole story. Gordon is taking more difficult shots by design in Houston and putting up similar percentages.
He's being tasked with more in Houston volume-wise. He's taking step-back 3's off the dribble and is taking deep 3's from 25-29 feet.
If he just spotted up at the line he could shoot 45% from 3. But the Rockets want him to let even the difficult shots fly because they win with volume.

Per 36 he's averaging more than 1 ppg better. He's averaging more points in less minutes.
And he's averaging more points and better 2pt fg% and better efg% in the same season comparing against 5+ previous seasons cherry-picked. That's significant.
And of course he's the "same player" as a guy doesn't just magically get better.
My point is the style of play maximizes the ability he already had.

He's also playing a 6th man role. Many posters thought he'd do well in that role, but like many players, it took going to a new team to make a taking on a new role acceptable.

I don't think anyone would disagree with this. He's in a system that works better for his talents, that doesn't mean that he's all of a sudden a better player like some in this thread seem to think.

It is more than the system. His role is vastly different in Houston. He is the Rockets second scoring option. Here he was the fourth or fifth option. Houston uses his high bbq as a alternate playermaker. Gentry used him as a spot shooter with a team without ball movement and ball dominant points.
According to MM, the Pels and E.G. had a mutual interest in resigning here last off-season unlike RA. Not liking a dysfunctional organization does not correlate to not loving the city.
My guess is that if Dunn was drafted Gordon would have returned.

Maybe, maybe not. As the article you posted stated, players would be in better position to defend if he was shooting from the line. He isn't necessarily playing any better, he is just being used in a slightly different way and fits the team better.

I'm pretty sure Gordon shot more spot up 3's this yr.

He shot more of all kinds of 3's this year. And his spot up 3's were from really deep.

AD,Holiday,Ryan, and Evans averaged more field goal attempts per game than Gordon. So ERIC was the 5th option despite averaging the second most minutes played per game. Lastly he had the highest scoring efficiency among the five.

Dude basically used New Orleans to get healthy with the surgeries and all to get right. Then jetted when all was right, the bitch. Lol

I'm not wasting my time looking up weights but Eric Gordon put on solid muscle this past off-season. Probably the biggest reason he's not getting hurt.
He's a lot healthier and probably learned some of James Harden's secrets to getting to the rim/line as well.
And no-one on this board would say that Alvin is a better coach than D'antoni. He (D'antoni) loves three point shooters, Eric is a good three point shooter. Alvin had no idea of how to use anyone in his first year. He had AD shooting five threes a game or some shite ffs. I don't blame him for leaving.
He obviously didn't give a shite about his conditioning down here or we told him to stay lean and not put on muscle so his knee could heal (both are feasible).
If what was rumored was true and we had the option of keeping Gordon if Dunn was drafted then you could say letting Eric leave started the wheels on getting Cousins, because Vivek coveted Buddy. Crazy to think about.

Some people will disagree with me for their reasons, but I will say it like it really is and that is Eric Gordon never really wanted to be in New Orleans. He hated it when the Clippers traded him there and made it known when he arrived. He may have warmed up after awhile and saw that it wasn't such a bad city as his spoiled prima donna arse thought it would be, but he still never really made a serious effort to wanna be there in both his play there and attitude. He wanted to bolt for Phoenix immediately when opportunity came and was pissed when they matched Phoenix's offer to keep him.
So, he basically had this lackadaisical attitude when they didn't let him go to Phoenix with how he played in New Orleans. He did not play hard and as I said basically used them to get healthy with these series of bizarre injuries. On the end he finally lived up to the big money they were paying him, but it was to little to late as he basically alienated the fans against him. People were glad to see his arse go, he made really good money in that contract and did not deserve it, screw him. I hope I'm wrong, but I don't think Holliday will be back either, he's another one to me that just seems like he doesn't wanna be in New Orleans.
