It's also a cultural thing- in the first quarter to half of the 20th century there were a ton of great Jewish baseball players-- because Baseball was an inner city sport and Jewish kids saw it as a way out of poverty.

What we need to find a way to do more is push the short athletic kids who are never going to get an Basketball scholarship into soccer- I know there's a ton of other reasons we struggle to break into the upper tier of soccer countries but we have a surplus of 5'5" to 6'0" guys who dominate as scoring guards in HS then don't ever play again because of height.
