Anesthetist route.
Statisticly have a better chance getting into medical school.
Besides CRNA programs have gone the PhD. route.

Many hospitals nationwide are going towards only hiring BSN nurses and making their current RNs obtain their BSN before a certain timeframe.
Sounds elitist. They pass the same boards, right?

Okay? When she was down here, she made right around 85k. I'd still consider that damn good by most standards.

I hope, you're fricking joking.
Better look into the hospitals in the area you will be working in. It's very much a reality in many hospitals now.
I got a lovely email from HR back in 2013 telling me that if I do not have my BSN by Dec 31, 2019...I no longer had a nursing position at my hospital.
I got tuition reimbursement from work (5500 a year)...so that helped with costs for me. Did a completely online program while working full time. My graduation is tomorrow Very time consuming...but very doable(and I was also dealing with helping my family after the August flood and finding another job). If I can do school through all that...with a 4.0 GPA no less....anyone can.

Yes, by 2020 most hospitals worth a shite will only hire BSN nurses.

Yeah but didn't you put on 70 pounds from all that? I'd have gone for 100.

A lot of hospitals that pay big bucks for nurses require that they get their BS degrees. Two year program may not get what you want.

Damn, it sucks
I guess, if it's only an extra year, then I can do it. My passion is helping people. My previous job was a personal trainer. (srs)

Thanks for the help though, I may seem like a troll, but I'm serious about this topic.

Seriously though....hospitals are starting to weed out LPNs and Associate RNs. Get the bachelors.

Wife is an NP. Definitely worth it. RN not so much today.

it sucks and will cost more, but I'll do what I have to.

Nursing is a great field to go into, especially if you like helping others.
There are sooo many types of nursing jobs out there. So if you don't like one area...you can easily find something you do like. I did pediatric bedside nursing on nights for 16 years and eventually got burnt out and needed a change. Now I'm doing an office nursing job in the infection control department of my hospital and I absolutely love it.
As a new grad...you will usually need to start out doing patient care in some setting.

You can make good money as an RN if you get your BSN and travel. A friend of mine and his wife are both RN'a and travel and are making over $100 an hour out on the west coast right now. My wife is a NP and does well but would not recommend the NP route because there is a push to turn some of the NP programs into doctorate programs. CRNA is the way to go if you can get into a program. It has become highly competitive so getting in isn't always easy.

Get it all done now while you're young and single (I'm assuming you have no kids to support). You'll regret it later in life if you choose to take the short cut.
Don't short change your career.
