These layoffs have nothing to do with that.
I respectfully disagree. My boyfriend and I quit watching ESPN awhile ago because we were tired of getting leftist politics shoved down our throats by a "sports" network. Add to that, many of their personalities decided to add their leftist message to their professional Twitter feeds. We both decided to unfollow a lot of them. Use your personal account to express your political views, not your professional account.

Clay is correct here...people want to watch a sports channel to see sports, not be told how awful we are because our views are contrary to theirs. Apparently, many other people felt the same.

NFL Network, take heed...you're heading in the same direction. I've quit following a lot of their guys on Twitter for the same reason.

they're not trying to keep people like you

being political and marketing towards the black community is their best shot to keep ratings somewhat stable. their best shows are direct in this manner

demographically, it makes sense. due to SES issues, blacks in the US are far less likely to be cord cutters. why wouldn't ESPN focus on marketing towards teh demos who are more likely to remain actual television viewers (esp for non-sporting events content)?
