According to TMZ, Moran’s body was found unresponsive Saturday afternoon by authorities in Indiana. The cause of death is unknown.
The California-born actress, who also starred in “Happy Days” spinoff “Joanie Loves Chachi” opposite Scott Baio, had fallen on hard times in recent years. She was reportedly kicked out of her trailer park home in Indiana, according to tabloid reports, because of her hard-partying ways.

She fell really hard from grace. Still, she was a big part of my youthful TV watching. Godspeed, Erin.

Winkler and Ron Howard reached out to her several times. She refused help. I was a fan of Happy Days. It is a sad ending.

Rest in peace, Erin. I never have paid any attention to her age and surprised at how close in age I am to her.

This is sad.... Happy Days was A great show... No royalties I guess... Not sure how all that works...

Surely all her royalties were either shot in her arm or snorted up her nose.

Here's an pretty informative thread from Straight Dope on how TV residuals work. TL;DR, you don't make a whole lot unless you're able to negotiate a separate deal from the standard contract. And I imagine it was different in the seventies than it is today.

Reportedly, Tom Bosley was a father figure to a lot of the younger cast and drilled cautionary financial advice into their heads. Once you become a drug addict, that flies out the window.

CORYDON, Ind. (AP) — Authorities say former "Happy Days" star Erin Moran likely died from cancer at her southern Indiana home.
A statement released Monday by the Harrison County Sheriff's Department says an autopsy revealed the 56-year-old actress had stage-four cancer, but doesn't specify what type.

That's even sadder. I hope she was on drugs that made it a peaceful departure.

I'm not sure it's possible in Livingston Parish.
