Having LF on the Saints team does help the defense. The Saints defense will not have to play against him if he is on their team. This automatically helps the defense.
Hopefully Carolina does NOT get him. That would not be good for the Saints defense.

He could also help in terms of ball control & dominating time of possession. There is more than one way to skin a cat. Opposing offenses can't score if their opportunities possession wise are severely limited. It's a factor no one seems to think about in this equation.
