I am looking to to put in a spring/summer plot that will last into the bow season here in Louisiana. I found this stuff, which is a mixture of sunflowers, peas, and soybeans among other things. Anybody on the OB have any experience with it?

I think he is saying buy a 50 lbs. bag of sunflowers, peas and soybeans individually.

Niche products like this for deer hunters are way overpriced. They sell everything in that bag for cheaper at every feed store.

I see what you are saying. Main reason I'm interested is that they claim this is a different variety of soybean. They tolerate grazing better than normal ag soybeans.

It is just a forage bean. It is designed to be grazed, not to make bean pods. You can buy Eagle Brand Roundup Ready forage beans. And spray them with Roundup to keep them clean.

If you buy that expensive BS then you can't go over the top with Roundup. It makes it harder to manage weeds.

If you want a mix of sunflowers and forage beans, then buy them and mix them yourself at the ratio that works for you. IF you are in an area where deer pressure is light enough to get beans out of the ground without the deer mowing them down, then plant beans. If you need a little more plant material faster tan beans, then plant sunflowers. If your deer pressure is too great for sunflowers or beans, then plant Joint Vetch.

Mixing that stuff up actually takes away your chemical management options. It hurts. It doesn't help.
