If you extrapolate that to a whole season and use Daryl Morey's (yes your Daryl Morey) pythagorean win expectation, that would result in about 55 expected wins.

Now obviously, I realize that is overly optimistic, but it's clear that Houston is talented enough to win more than 41 games without Harden this season.

Harden plays minutes v the other teams starters. When James comes out the other team has bench players out there. If you assume the other teams starters won't play. Sure Houston would be a 55 win team. Otherwise, nope.

Wins matter, but this 20-25% portion of the season/every game does not matter.
