What did Hobbs mean when he said to Memo (Kim B.) "You're right, we have met before?"
Also, when he's at dinner with Gus, Memo and Max Mercy, Gus said he once bet 100k on 3 pitches, he lost but he ruined the guy the next week.
Was Gus the one that had Roy shot?

1. He was comparing her to Harriet Bird. The Women who shot him.
2. Gus meant he won a different bet against he same guy. Gus didn't have Roy shot.
And spoiler, in the book he takes the money and whiffs.....

Max Mercy penned a story to make it appear Roy was involved sexually with Harriet Bird. And in Max's mind, ruined Hobbs in the media.
Just my take on it, from the headlines shown after he is shot. Haven't seen it in years, just going from memory.
