Playing any more than 5 tournaments in a year before the age of 13 is pretty much a waste of time and money (this assumes the kid is also playing local rec ball and it is a shame if he isn't). Ramp it up a little more the summer before freshman year. After freshman year, all bets are off.
So playing 2 rec games a week and 3-5 games a weekend is okay? That's 5-7 games a week. You think that's okay?

quote:no, I meant that if the kid isn't playing rec ball, then they have a lot more free time to play more than 5 tournaments in a year. We did spring ball at the local little league, plus three tournaments in the summer, one in November and one in February...and I generally hated the summer ones. We never did tournaments during the spring rec season.

Knowing what I know now, it would have been a terrible waste of time to play some of the schedules that some of these select teams play.
