Funny that I got a lot of shite for saying we weren't shopping Cooks and then Payton straight up says we weren't shopping him.
He also said he wouldn't trade him unless he got multiple high picks in this year's draft and next as well as a defensive starter.

Thanks Fun

Interesting to me...

Larry Holder ?@LarryHolder Payton said he thought the leaper play vs. Denver was a fantastic play and didn't feel like it was a play that should be outlawed.

Classy

Payton: I'm for reducing some of the things we ask officials to do

X a gazillion

Payton also sees Andrus Peat as a LG for now. Works well with his left hand down.

Been waiting for that news.

So are we arguing whether or not we were shopping Cooks? Because we were not. I'm with Bone. It's been stated by Sean and Loomis multiple times and Cooks said the whole thing was set into motion by his agent. He purposely released the Cooks was unhappy after the Rams game.

He then fired that agent after that.

The whole situation was severely misreported by so many "sources".

The stronger they see the Peat move to LG permanent, the more RT goes up in the need factor in the draft. Strief has turned into a workhorse as he ages (72 starts in the last 5 years). Still, there needs to be a viable option upcoming at his age

They KNEW after trying Peat at RG and him failing again that Peat will never play of the right. That's why we had to bring back Evans last year (Kelemete has the same issue of only being able to play on the left/center).

And Payton said he wants to come out of the draft with one OL. Reading the tea leaves (Armstead signed long term at LT, Peat at LG, Unger at C, and now Warford at RG), it's pretty obvious he means it's time to draft Strief's replacement.

I agree. I also think that we need a solid C/G type since Lelito left. I see Kelemete as a better G/T

Could be on the team already. Looked into this guy and was surprised at the length and accolades he garnered at Mich St.
Played in 48 career games, including 47 starts (42 at center, five at left guard…In 2015 was a consensus first-team All-American, starting 12 games at center for the Spartans, including the 2015 College Football Playoff Semifinal at the Cotton Bowl...In 2014, started 11 games at center and was named first-team All-American by USA Today, becoming just the fourth Spartan center and first since 1962 and the first MSU offensive lineman to earn All-American status since 1997

And of course a state champion in wrestling for good measure. 6'2" 295

We also got Landon Turner G as a udfa as well in 2016.

Yep. He's basically telling us what the plan is. If you read what he said about the draft...they want a DE, CB, RB, S, & OT. He also didn't rule out LB & QB if the target is there at the right value.

He doesn't talk about WR & TE much at all. Based on his comments...I assume those are targets for the 6th & 7th round at best.

I fully expect us to pick a late round RT from Podunk U that becomes a All-Pro.

That would be exquisite if they hit on that. We're due for another Strief.

I'm glad he's being straight forward with all his answers.

He's probably approaching old man status. He doesn't have time for any bullshite.
