Agreed. I've talked to dozens of people with that same accent.

As for John B, anyone that has spent time in rural Alabama has most likely met someone like John B. Eccentric, never married, lives with and takes care of momma, rumored to be gay, highly intelligent, very opinionated, etc. I suspect some of their anger at the world stems from their attempts to suppress their homosexual desires.

I think for Southerners, this story is mostly kind of interesting at its best. For Northerners who haven't experienced the rural south and people like this it will create sympathy and feelings I guess. It was interesting-ish, but just petered out by the end. Was a 3 out of 5 stars.
