I'd rather start by understanding why the costs are so bloated and work to fix that.
If anything we need more people in the military and we need to spend our money more wisely.
Why do we need more people in the military? What positions are wanting and are there not any superfluous ones?
Ever penny we spend over whatever it takes to secure our own interests frees up our competition from using resources to secure their interests. Trumps military budget would mean we were footing the bill for roughly 40% of the worlds military spending....40% of the bill paid by 4% of the worlds population....and that doesn't seem excessive to most people.
So what are we going to do with that kind of spending an who the frick are we going to do it with? If we increase spending by a penny the rest if the world has several pennies to invest in education and healthcare and R&D......and the right goes on and on about free markets while U.S. Companies and workers are subsidizing their competition around the world.......
