I don't think he's delusional. I think he is basing his view on an emotional experience which I believe to not be very helpful to a discussion of the moral implications of abortion in general.
The argument is essentially that you are free to take a life if allowing life to persist is too emotionally traumatic, and as much as I think rape is despicable, I don't think killing the other innocent victim of the crime is justified.
