If a coach is not held responsible for the results on the field, then why even have a coach? A leader is given credit when the team does well, and he takes the blame and bears the responsibility when the team tanks. That's simply how it works.

LSU gets a lot of top talent, many of whom were the stat kings of their HS teams. In any sport, often these type of players got to do what they wanted. No on told them how to hit, they just got to do what they did best - often against many pitchers who will never play college ball.
Fast forward to LSU, if this same attitude prevails, then the Florida's make you pay for it.
So yes, coaches are on the hook for these "slumps". Basically these players are reverting back to High School plate discipline where they never saw a pitch not worth swinging at in any situation.
