The early morning bite is usually on fire in the summertime. Once it starts getting to hot to be out on the water, it's too hot for the fish to bite anyway. Once the afternoon storms roll through head back out for a few hours and fish until dark. The bite really picks up strong and most anglers have already left for the day, it makes for some real memorable fishing.
Also, there was a recommendation by someone else in the thread to go to Fort Desoto Park and that's a great choice too. It's on the west coast south of Tampa by Clearwater and is pretty much universally regarded as the best campground in Florida. If you don't want to primative camp and want some place that has restrooms and amenities then Fort Desoto is for you but make sure to book your spot 6 months in advance.

Yeah we're looking to go in about 2-3 months. So I guess Fort DeSoto is out.

Try to call them and see if they have any availablilty or can put you on a list. They get cancellations pretty often so you might luck out, I'd call them now though

Thanks a lot. I'm not in the 40" club yet. Although I know several guys who are. That snook in the pic of me kneeled down was just under 37". Biggest I've landed so far.
