Is it water frontage? The land won't go down in value. I love the idea of buying 40 acres off the grid

Probably not for that price. Probably not on the road system either.

DNR has it land sales and you can find some defend deals in the Glennallen area. I bought some in Windy Hills just north of Denali.

40 acres is a lot. You just need 5 or 10. There's so much remote public land in AK, all you need is a cabin site.

main issue with being "off the grid" (or far away from urban areas) is proximity to emergency services. You never know when you may need them...otherwise, I love the idea of being far from urban areas...not sure I could do it full time, though
