It's sad when people get too wrapped up in a "universe" (formally known as a mythos) and then can't enjoy good films related to that universe because they have a set way they expect things to happen in that universe.
Star Wars
Comic Book Movies
Alien
etc
And I'm not with The Egg. The reason I liked Alien so much was that there were unanswered questions in that movie. You start to give me too much info about how this was done and that was done then I start to get bored because I'm no longer imagining or discussing with friends what I think happened.
The Space Jockey was one of the best teasers in all of sci-fi film history. We didn't need a movie explaining them.
But then again that's why some people didn't like Prometheus. They expected an explanation or more aliens. I look at Prometheus as a sci-fi movie in the same universe as Alien but trying to explore the same sci-do trope from a different angle.
Alien is about the universe's uncaring outlook on humanity. We are just the big kid on our planet having mastery over all terrestrial animals, but there are MUCH bigger kids down the block that DGAF about us. Prometheus explored that idea from another angle.
I REALLY don't need to know exactly how the Aliens were created and who did it. That's all white noise that Hollywood puts into sci-fi movies now when sci-fi is all about deeer issues for me.
End rambling.

1. I flat out refuse to believe that the aliens were created. I don't care if the whole world disagrees, I refuse.
2. Prometheus sucked all on its lonesome as well. as "being connected to the alien universe." Some of the stupidest scientists in all of human history were on the Prometheus.
