Anyone have any experience with Hyundai vehicles?

Looking for a decent car, preferably certified used with a warranty. Not looking to spend more than $17k.
Local Hyundai dealership has a Sonata with approximately 45k miles for $15k.
How is Hyundai's reliability? My little brother loves Honda, as do some friends of mine. Any assistance is appreciated.

My dad and mother in law both drive sonatas. They both love them. I've driven my dads. It's nice. Quicker than I anticipated too. I think it's a 2014 or 15

Hyundai's are pretty reliable especially if you get it certified along with the whatever it has left on the 10yr 100k mi warranty. you really wont have to worry about much.

My wife bought a certified preowned 2014 Sonata with around 38K miles for $15K in December 2015. I like it and we haven't had any issues with it.
I'm probably going to look into a certified preowned Santa Fe sometime this year.

Great cars as long as you don't have any interest in selling/trading them in within a few years.
I had a '13 Elantra and a '12 Tucson. I beat the shite out of them and they held up like a champ. But, compared to the newer Ford Edge and Toyota Highlander's I traded them for.....they're shitty. You just have to look at them in relation to other similar priced vehicles.

My wife had a Sonata for a few years and she loved it. No issues.

I bought a 2016 Sonata Sport on Thanksgiving brand new almost fully loaded for about 24 after TTL, and I absolutely love it. I was going between the Accord and the Hyundai. I knew the Accord had great resale value, but the Hyundai had a much better warranty and technology. I highly suggest a Certified Pre-Owned and try to get as much of that 10 year 100k mile warranty as you can.
Lagniappe/tip for Sonata owners: bought LED bulbs on Amazon for the headlights for $40 and replaced them to match the LED running light strip underneath the headlight, and it is beautiful. Highly recommend.

I'd try to get a new Elantra for that money. A new Hyundai will come with the full warranty, which does not transfer fully if sold used.

Drive an '06 Azera with 98k miles that was basically just "totaled" by an oil leak. They've given me 1-2 years of driving it before the engine dies. Wasn't going to spend $2,000 on repairs for a car worth <$4,000 so I just fixed the immediate needs.
Get a Toyota.
ETA: You can get a Camry or Accord for similar price with same age/same amount of miles.

My aunt and my wife's cousin have both had Santa Fe's that lasted a long time. My aunt commuted 40 miles one way to work several days a week back before she retired, and that thing had a ton of miles on it when I drove it. They may not be fancy or luxurious, but the reliability has come a long way. If you got one only a few years old you could beat on it for several years.

I had a new loaded 2016 Elantra as a rental last year while my truck was getting repaired from an accident. It was very nice. I was impressed, and really enjoyed driving it.

Over the years I've always driven Audi's. Jag, BMW, etc.. ..and my last car was a 2012 Porsche. I bought my first Hyundai 2 years ago as I was impressed with the handling, performance, and build quality. It's no Porsche by any means but considering price, it's a superb driver....even compared to the hi-dollar luxury sedans. The 100,000 mile bumper-to-bumper warranty is unbeatable, the local dealer for scheduled maintenance has stellar customer service, meticulous complimentary detailing comes with every visit...no charge. I haven't had the slightest peep of a mechanical issue or any other type. ..and now near 60,000 miles. Highly recommended!!!
