I agree, but schools are not obligated to release the player. Now, nobody wants a teammate that doesn't want to be there, especially new coaches that probably have to clean house. However, we hear stories of players being released, or not being released every spring. Schools hold off releasing these kids until after their new coach has exhausted every avenue of convincing the kid he needs to stay put. Only when the parents, player, and possibly lawyer raise a big enough stink do some of these letters of intent actually get released.
