Good luck with that. Coaches would put extreme pressure on kid to sign early. The problem is because football takes up the entire fall, kids would either have to visit in the summer before the season or not take all his visits. Honestly, what's wrong with the current signing date.

Or they just don't sign early and do what they want. There are kids that take their visits during the fall. Jacob Phillips for example and pretty much every single Early Enrollee.

Nothing, but giving kids the option to sign in December would provide many with a means of ending the recruiting process.

This isn't basketball where the recruiting class is a handful of players. Teams will sign 20-30 players a year. There isn't going to be some huge issue with locking in their spot.
