Hawking is an outlier and it's because of biology, not money. Unlike most victims, he got it young (that slows the process for some reason) and his vital organ neurons (brain, heart, lungs) were spared.

This is true as well. I learned this in neuro anatomy

Typically if als manifests at an early age you can live longer

I would say it is a little of both correct? It has to cost a small fortune for his care. I wouldn't want to live one second like him or Gleason though. They are better men than me and still found ways to make an impact on the world
