Prayer should be allowed over the PA at events. Extracurricular religious organizations should be allowed to meet. I think that at the high school level a basic world religions course or subject matter should be part of the social studies/history curriculum.
Hard pass on all of that.

Freedom is a bitch. Sometimes you just have to deal with things that make you uncomfortable.

My, don't we swing a huge brush of religious intolerance!
And to the OP, if you do not make accommodations for all, then you have no place to complain. Would rather not have it at all in the school. It is an institution of the state.
You can now return to your regularly scheduled bashing of evangelical Christians.

Really? Mind telling us which one, because from what i have seen Christianity has been legislated out of the schools and you are defending Muslims praying in the schools.

I mean we even said the Our Father before football games, led by the players; although, I never understood why that was the go to prayer.

"Muslims at Liberty High seemed to like it. “Takes like five minutes, instead of having to leave school, get in a car and go to my parents,” junior Sarah Qureshi told the school news site early this month. “This is the seventh year we’ve been doing this, and we’ve never had one issue,”
Well that puts the lie to the old meme that Arabs were better at mathematics and science than 'Mericans....7 years to get through a public high school in Texas is indicative of a serious learning disability....

I haven't read the comments but my attitude on this has always been the same.
I don't care at all if a teacher expresses their religion. I don't care at all if students do. I don't even care if a student who wins an award talks about their religion during their speech.
All of that is free exercise to me and the constitution guarantees free exercise.
So, the students being allowed to go use a room to knock out their prayer? Meh. No big deal to me.
This seems to be another one of those things where the primary reason there's a problem is because we have gotten so fricking bad at distinguishing between ALLOWING something and SUPPORTING something.
And, people have totally fricked up "tolerance" into meaning "I shouldn't have to see shite I don't like"........which is really the fricking precise opposite of tolerance.

How about all religions out of school?
While I agree that no single religion should be promoted at a public school, I don't agree with the notion that there should be freedom from religion anywhere.
Religion is part of our culture. Some people want to denie that, but it's very apparent in many aspects of our society.

It's a simple prayer that everybody knows, I guess?

But isn't that the point?
LINK schools do not allow Christian Clubs even when they meet after school.
And, when they are telling teachers they cannot have a Bible on their desk, even though they are not using the Bible to proselytize. How can you allow some to pray in the school with access to school rooms and not allow a teacher to have a personal Bible anywhere on their desks? My question would also be...are students allowed to have their Bibles at school? Or Koran? Or Torah? To allow one group to practice their religion at a school and restrict others seems....wrong?

Since the Muslims are required to pray 5 times a day at certain hours, it would be an organized prayer time in the middle of the school day. I wonder if they would allow a Christians Club to leave class to have prayer in the middle of the day and provide them with a classroom? Probably not.
Prince George County High School Principal Cheryl J. Logan said the initiative is in response to the “needs of the growing Muslim community,”

So, while schools are fighting Christians to practice their faith, they are making allowances for "the needs of a growing Muslim community"?
