I knew a dad who would make his son run on a service road and followed him from a truck. Every time the son would slow down the dad would blow the horn and make him speed up. He was around 12 and was training him for high school cross country. The kid got burned out as he got older.
The son is now a dad of his own and treats his son the same way except the sport is soccer.
