The Education Department faces a 14 percent cut under the Trump administration budget, which would downsize or eliminate a raft of grants, including for teacher training, afterschool programs, and aid to low-income and minority college students. The cuts would be coupled with a historic investment — $1.4 billion — in charter schools, private schools and other school-choice initiatives.
not sure how cuts to after school programs and care will bode with the communities for which they help/serve. Some of those programs are awesome for single moms and dads where they grind it out at work all day and can't afford nanny care.

Increasing defense spending +1

Some of those are great cuts

Why not just makes the cuts, try to eliminate remove non-government spending barriers for school choice, and let it play out?

I mean I thought the federal government was getting out of the education business. This just seems that they've picked up a different client.
