Closest? They're better than LSU.

I probably won't watch unless I'm bored but yeah I hope UNO does well. I always pull for Louisiana teams besides ULL due to their fans being insufferable.

Closest thing to LSU

Yer not jes' woofin'. When I was a student at LSU, UNO was actually a branch: LSU-NO.

Tulane was OTOH a HUGE rival to LSU, equal to Ole Miss and Bama. The 0-14 loss in front of 86K+ fans in Sugar Bowl Stadium (mostly Greenies) was the sickest feeling I've ever had supporting LSU

Remember when Southern gave Gonzaga a scare.

I thought you said UNO wasn't going to be in the play-in game?

I was at that game. Yes, the worst feeling I have ever experienced. The end of an era.

I went to UNO games back when Ron Greene was coach and they played in the Chamber of Horrors. Good times.

Vegas has them as a 1 - 2 point favorite. Geaux Privateers.

If I'm not mistaken, their last appearance in the tourney was against UNC. It was a close game but UNC pulled away late. The Tar Heels then played Texas Tech and that was the game where Tech's Darvin Ham shattered the backboard on a dunk, I was watching live on CBS...Ham got all of that one.

I don't like the play in game format. it should either be ALL BUBBLE TEAMS (all conference champs at 15 seed or lower) or ALL 16 SEED TEAMS (this at least gives them an extra game to get ready for the top seed team.

I spent some time at UNO, late 1980s. Went to Lakefront Arena and supported Benny Dees', Art Tolis' and Tim Floyd's teams. Those were some heady days and surprisingly good and competitive basketball in the short-lived American South Conference: UNO, La.Tech, USL, Lamar, Arky State Indians, with out-of-conference Memphis State being huge rivals from the old Sun Belt days.

I'm glad for the Privateers, and to have a real rooting interest. It's a shame that a team that's done the regular season and tournament double is still a "play-in" team.

Yeah I hate that too. If they pull it out, maybe just maybe they can ride that momentum into the game vs top seed.
