I've said since Monty was here that Loomis would never make a Pelicans move that would threaten any of the, totally disgusting, control he has over the franchise. Right now, getting rid of Loomis means turning over two franchises. Even though Benson already seems to cherish Loomis like a child, running the Pelicans gives him even more leverage.
I don't think he'd ever voluntarily hand over any of that power, to bring in Cal.
I believe John Reid when he reported Cal's people called, basically looking for the Stan Van Gundy package. Loomis would never go for that though.
