I said good jobs. Not everyone is satisfied with 45k a year working construction.

And you probably still can't walk into those jobs straight from college. You'd at least need an advanced degree.

Junior Assistant District Attorneys, right out of college often don't make 45k a year starting out.

Another point about the 80's is... there was 18% interest rates ... whole different economy back then. Gen X believe in "work smarter, not harder" but there certainly wasn't a lazy mentality either.
