damn good question, once you get passed the 1-4 picks I think things tighten up with the talent to where you cant really say its a huge drop off from 5-12
lets go with crazy and say we have #5, im of the opinion it might be better to deal it for more picks before I take somebody at that spot. sure you pass a guy that people like, and the ST board would certainly go insane, but the extra picks you gain from that can make the difference in if you get to the playoffs next year and can seriously compete, or struggle and still be rebuilding next year.
that said it all depends on who is there at #5 and how desperately would we need that player. if he was a player expected to have been gone at pick 2 or 3, well that's different

Well said. This is exactly what I want the Titans to do. They have no 2nd round picks but 2 in the first and 2 in the third. As deep as this draft is , I would like to see them trade out of the #5 pick , and with whatever deal that comes with , I would hope they would pick up a 2nd round pick. Obviously FAs can make your team better immediately but I also hate the risk of paying a guy big because so often you see that after getting that big payday their play on the field falls. That being said , drafting college players is a crap shoot as well but the more players you can draft , the better your odds of striking gold with a player or 2
