Probably would immediately trade off Oregon, Idaho, or Arizona to the highest bidding country for immediate needs like weapons, cars, animals, seeds, etc. Make a deal with the US allowing some bases to be built in exchange for protection.

Without poles and line and bait from Walmart? Nope.
And whoever did get lucky and get a fish would probably be mauled to death for the food
