imho, it all seems very forced which comes off as silly.

i can't remember the author of the article but there was a brit who just eviscerated the american soccer fan in a piece for the journal, and while much of his thoughts were full of shite he nailed some of it when it came to the characterization of the american soccer fan.

in the end however, i'll take the cringe worthy soccer fan out there supporting the game in hopes that it continues to catch on and grow in this country.

There is really no winning in this situation. At the beginning, the MLS was made fun of because it was too Amercianized. Now, it gets made fun of for trying to be too European. I'm guilty of this as well. I hate how Dynamo fans bring scarves to the games. It's 100 degrees outside. Only girls and hipsters own scarves here.

I don't really know what the solution is other than time. Eventually, it will just all mesh together.
