Is it not the law?
I'm for legalization with restrictions but they are simply following the laws set fourth. Congress can change those laws. That how govt works.

The point is that it's neither feasible, nor legally required, to enforce even law on the book, especially to its fullest possible extent.

That some people place higher value on the written law than sensible discretion baffles me.

It was not necessary to quote the entire post. The point remains the same.
Yes, the laws are on the books. It would be pretty rad if they got changed. But enforcing dumb laws because they are laws is not good governance, it places the written word above the real world.

Obama's administration picking and choosing which laws to enforce was the main thing that made it a failed administration. It's odd to me that you expect folks to want Trump's administration to do it.

Sessions was the fair haired boy of the GOP Establishment a few years back...this shouldn't be any surprise. It doesn't make any sense that he was nominated in the first place....unless of course a GOP establishment insider is what you were looking for

This is why the situation under Obama was untenable....I don't smoke pot and havent in 33 years....but prohibition is not going to work...

Obama's administration picking and choosing which laws to enforce was the main thing that made it a failed administration.
quote:Because it's not practical; they are not legally required to do so; and certain laws are harmful to enforce completely.
It's odd to me that you expect folks to want Trump's administration to do it.
And appropriate use of power is as much about knowing when not to use it as it is knowing when to use it.
In this case Marijuana as a schedule 1 drug, is invalid, both scientifically and practically; and the enforcement has shown to be costly and harmful. So enforcing an invalid, harmful, and costly law, just for the sake of exercising power, is a misuse of power.
