Now spandex Sally and her schwinn collide with a (for sakes of the argument) a tiny arse smart car going 45 mph. Now, spandex Sally is in the hospital with a broken neck. And smart car Steve has to get a new vehicle.
I regularly hit 30mph, and have touched 40 on my bike. Average 22+ while moving on flat ground easily in a group. I think we may be talking about a different type of cyclist. Getting lumped in with the hobo riding down Perkins is not the same as what I do. Most "cyclist" going for a workout have no desire to be in a heavy traffic area. No one wants the starting and stopping. But, a cyclist can be on a rural road following all laws while being courteous, and a driver will still hold a grudge against them.
Simple fact remains, cars and bikes follow the rules, nobody gets hurt.

We absolutely are. My problem is with the dumbfricks who ride down busy roads at rush hour "because they can".
Cyclists out on rural roads like river road, I give them far more room than they need. They are good people. They aren't being jackasses.
