As a Californian:

I've seen it in a handful of threads. Neither side can/wants a secession.
California is a top 10 GDP in the world by itself, yet we can't even provide our own water. It bothers me that people even mention this as a possibility.
Having said that, I live in San Diego County. I've never seen a protest. Never been targeted because I am white, I've never seen a single ICE agent, nor have I heard anyone talk of succession. Just prissy democratic office banter.
Just wanted to let you know, it's not a lawless land.

Well... that's besides the point.

Many are. They just get overshadowed by the drama queens.

Reasonable people like yourself need to take your State back from the loons who control your politics. California is on the path to disaster if your politics maintain their current direction. You will tax yourselves out of relevance where business will be forced to relocate to other locations.
The interesting thing is that every person I know who migrated to California has eventually became a liberal. I really don't get it.
I am a lifelong Floridian. Ther are a lot of similarities between the two states but, Florida is quite conservative. It is very affordable, vibrant and growing here. We are the opposite of California in many ways. Just like California, we have some very liberal areas but, we have not allowed them to control our politics.

CA is the greatest state in the nation still. Trumps immigration will keep it that way

The reason he can't take the state back is obvious...about 40 yrs. ago I was living in California and the news came over the radio that that year the white student became the minority in the public school class room...'nough said! Since I was home schooling my two kids, it didn't really phase me that much because I knew I'd never live there full time...

I'm also a Californian from the bay and it cracks me up how some people have this image of a dystopian liberal waste land. I have family from Rough and Ready that are every bit as conservative and country as anywhere in the south.

4 million of us voted for Trump in the last election.
A ton of voters in California who preferred Trump over Hilary did not vote feeling it would be a waste

But LA area alone has more than double that!

Everyone just thinks of the Coastal cities and towns in Cali and even some of those are still fairly conservative...Smaller, older population ones.
But there's 18,000 square miles of California known as the Central Valley that is Red...Hell even the Mexicans are rednecks in the Valley.

Have spent a lot of time in San Diego with family living there. It's an incredible city and California is a wonderful state.
I've always told friends and family in Alabama that in California the wheel that squeaks the loudest gets the grease.
It's another example of needing to ask "why?" Why is California portrayed as this wildly progressive state when a lot of the citizens have a lot in common with Alabamians?

I've been in California since 1967. I have commercial fishing boats in Santa Cruz so I end up spending half the year in Santa Cruz County and half the year in the Sierra foothills, Amador County. A world of difference between the two.

I was on the lam for 8 and a half years...I wrote a book on it long ago...It was part of my 2nd life time, figuratively speaking of course...I'm now in my 3rd stage of life...

You are wrong about one thing. Our side(conservatives) do want California to secede.

Fly out there for work three/four times per year. All people I meet/work with have small businesses and can't stand the govt Unions despite their party affiliation.
The crap we hear comes from the loudest but smallest segment of the state (Hollywood, Berkeley, San Fran).

Me and my kids really liked the Russian River area...one of my fondest memories in life was this scene...My son was about 7 yrs. old and was a real stud for his age...reminded me "boy" in Tarzan movies...he would dive down in the deepest part of the river and catch crayfish with his hands and they couldn't stop him because the water was so cold that they were helpless...then after collecting 8-10, he would go fishing with them as bait...and fish for bass he would, and caught a couple...he was an amazing son to raise up...chip off the old block!
