You sure this wasn't Eunice? I grew up in Mamou, and I can tell you we had no Pizza Hut in 97.

LOL, there's never been a Pizza Hut in Mamou. Nor a Burger King, Wendy's, McDonalds or any other chain.
If the town council was to allow one, it would cause quite a ruckus by the Mom and Pop businesses. Of course, there's nearly none of those either.........
