Any prohibitions on felons carrying or is it you can carry if you have a pulse?

Why are people so scared? I have guns but don't need to carry them on me to protect myself. Even as home protection, the chances of me ever having to use them is incredibly slim. It's all fear.

I am just like you in that I own guns, but I don't carry. I'm more worried about hurting myself because I can be pretty clumsy!
That said, there's a little more to someone carrying than just fear.

No, not ALL fear but it's fear based.

I carry not because I am scared, but because I am aware. I am aware of what evil and sadistic acts that humans are capable of doing to one another. Often times for no apparent reason at all.
If at some point during my every day life that I am placed in a position where I have an opportunity to try to stop an evil and horrible act from happening to an innocent person, then I hope that I am capable of preventing it. Having a firearm drastically increases my chances of being successful.
If I can stop a woman or child or even you from being raped/kidnapped/murdered by using that gun then my purpose is served. Whether I live or die as a result matters none. I'll accept my fate.
I'm a very protective person.

Why does it bother you that someone wants to carry?

I totally understand the honorable side of carrying and appreciate protecting yourself and others. I also see a correlation to how we have been made 'aware' of the horrible, evil, terrible acts humans are capable of to fear of it.
Have you experienced this evil to innocent civilians first hand? This truly would cause a justified concern. Fear of reoccurrence could push someone to arm themselves.

Doesn't bother me. I just think people are so negative and paranoid at times. So fearful that they would propose bills like in the OP.

Well, there are crazy people out there right?

I'm for a little gun control. We have quite a few crazy people out there.
I'm conservative.

Yes and now because of this bill they can carry a firearm without a permit.

Well... It bothered you enough that you posted about it,so that means that you have some feelings. How do you personally feel when you see someone carrying?
Posted on 2/25/17 at 4:43 am to Beessnax
The fear of average citizens is bothersome. Not the gun carrying. I see someone carry and I honestly ask myself 'why?'. What has made them so overly concerned about such a low percentage occurrence happening? I understand to a point if you live in the hood. But I'm talking about typical middle class citizens armingthemselves for a doomsday scenario.

Yes I've seen it both first hand but much more second hand (the results). I work in an ER.
When I carry I carry concealed. I think there are a few cases when you should openly carry a gun. But IMO, every day open carry puts you at a big disadvantage. If you are in a store/restaurant/walking down the street or whatever and a defense senerio we to go down. The bad guy has seen you before you have seen him. The biggest advantage of carrying a gun in self defense is the ability to appear as a normal person (which you are, you're not a cop). A normal looking person that appears defenseless to an attacker, but is not in fact defenseless.
This is just my opinion on the matter. Self defense for civilians while out of the home should almost always be concealed. No one should ever know that you have a firearm on you. Out of sight out of mind for everyone but yourself. Live your life normally, avoid confrontation as best you can. The ONLY ONLY ONLY time your weapon should come out is if you have to use it. Not to brandish to try to scare or intimidate the attacker to leave. If you have to draw, draw to use.
Just my opinion.
