Not shocking. Location sucked, flood didn't help, and that place was going to be a hive of undesirables...not to mention that Barcadia and Quarters aren't exactly killing it.

Meh...the first one is the $10 version of the $.99 store, and the second would be destroyed in ten days after opening in BR. Truly, y'all ain't missing much.

I forgot when Tinseltown was built it it couldn't have been much more than 20 years ago. Been a while since I lived in BR.

What caused that place to go from a great theater to being torn down in less than 20 years?

Perkins Rowe got built and they basically moved the theater there.

Citiplace put Tinseltown out of business. People stopped driving 20 minutes out of town to go see a movie.

Then eventually, like all Baton Rouge entertainment establishments, Citiplace was overrun with loiterers.

Smart move by the company. Would have turned into a baby sitting facility. After the first "incident" they'd be losing their arse off $$$$$.

Think they pulled out cause of the flood?
no, because of Baton Rouges new Mayor and her wanting to revamp the Police force because of racist.

"Y'all some disrespectful White Boys"

Nobody in their right mind will build anything of significance in this city because of bafoons such as these

Main Event remains very interested in the Baton Rouge market and is considering a different location, according to a spokesperson with the company. “But it is still in the very early stages,” she says.

So, out by Cabela's?

ETA: Or Juban Crossing, if the flood didn't scare them off.

It's probably Gravy's fault. Maybe they'll build in NBR like he wants them too

I'm gonna open a theater in North Baton Rouge and just call it "Loiterers".

I won't have to even play movies or sell concessions, because no one would buy either. Place would be slammed every night and no one would even know that movies weren't playing inside.

Crap, then how would I make money?

Huge cluster of hotels in Corporate/College area.....and downtown to a lesser extent. I think a Dave and Busters type of business would do very well in or around the College/Corporate area if they can find the space.

Are there actually any new large national businesses coming to BR? Seems like all you hear about are the ones that gave up on BR.

The owner/operator opened a newer, bigger theater in Perkins Rowe and shut down Tinseltown instead of renovating it.
