wife and I agreed that our kids won't have their first phone until they are 16 and have their own job to pay for it.

Check back in when your kids are 13 and every other kid already has a phone and let us know how your stance is holding up.

Our 2 oldest are 12 and 11. Their 4 friends from down the road were over today and they all 4 had phones, still not getting them one until they start driving and get a job..we have a home phone for if they need something...when we get one, it will be a flip phone with just minutes..

This is such a cop out. My kids understand that technology is useful but we don't spend hours on our phone or tablet.

My biggest pet peeve is going to dinner and everyone at the table is just staring at a device. Freaking talk to your kids and ask them how their day is going!

We have a DVD player in both cars but our kids don't get to use it. Even when we go on long car rides. We just play games and talk. You should try it sometimes. Technology is used today as a babysitter and it shouldn't be.

Why should that even matter when making a decision about your own kid?
