What kind of experience do you have? After 7 years with BS in Accounting I would think you'd be shooting for jobs higher than $35K. I would definitely get your CPA. Now I know that's easier said than done. When I first took FAR and BEC I failed miserably and I quit. Then I went back a few years later and passed. While you're out of work when you aren't sending resumes out do nothing but study. You should be able to knock it out quickly. If you aren't looking at public jobs then a CPA likely won't be required for the level you're looking at but it will certainly help. Also you mentioned Robert Half. Are you doing work there or using them to find a job? Robert Half is how I found two of my last three jobs. They've been a tremendous help for me in my job searches if you can I would search for jobs with them.

I'm not understanding how he has 7 years and no progression. That's probably what is scaring employers off.

I'm using RH to find work. I put off the CPA for years b/c I was terrified of it (word of mouth, reputation, hype). Now I wish I pursued it earlier.
