Don't think it was in an actual interview. It was one of those hearsay things. He had a briefing with some expert, and it was a question that he reportedly asked. It's one of those things that isn't concrete, but it does seem kind of believable. In an interview he did stumble over a question about what the nuclear triad is though, which is kind of bad.

"Several months ago, a foreign policy expert on the international level went to advise Donald Trump. And three times [Trump] asked about the use of nuclear weapons. Three times he asked at one point if we had them why can't we use them," Scarborough said on his "Morning Joe" program.

Given Trump's generally erratic behavior and spur of the moment comments (such as when he lied about the NFL sending him a letter dealing with the timing of the debate on Monday night and when he told Chris Matthews that he thought there should be some form of punishment for women who have abortions), I can totally believe Trump asked the question about using nuclear weapons. I'm no big fan of Scarborough, but I think he has good sources and wouldn't just make up something like that.
