Is that what that is? I was worried I was crazy or about to stroke out.

My doctor weaned me off remeron a couple of months ago, and I haven't been sleeping right since then.

Im on Cymbalta as well - 60mg. I would assume when it's time to wean off it would be smart to go very slow with it.
Yea I'm not in a rush or trying to quit cold turkey or anything but I would like to give it a shot while I'm still relatively early in the process.
How long have you been on and do you have any intention to stop anytime soon?

Just speculating though, your Doctor will have the answer to this, not the OT.
Again, not looking for medical advice or a plan just others to share their experiences.

I once weened off of Lexapro. I was taking 10 mg. I could go about 4 days without it before I started feeling withdrawals...when that happened, I took 5 mg. Then I waited another 3-4 days, and when I started feeling the withdrawals again, I took 2.5 mg. Then I repeated this again to where I was almost literally taking a few crumbs at the end. Having a good pill cutter is a good idea. As you progress, the withdrawals get a little less intense and before long I felt normal again.

I went off of mine cold turkey. But I was only taking 10-20 mg. Just enough to take the edge off.

Started at 30 at beginning of Dec. Upped it to 60 at beginning of Jan. I have been feeling fine and "normal" or "happy" since I've upped it to 60 honestly. It's a weird thing. I know the obvious side effects that can/will occur when weaning off and I somewhat have that fear of dependency now that I'm happy, but there has been a lot of effort, self reflection and focus over the last 3-4 months as well to get me back on my feet. I do intend to get off, and I'd rather it be sooner than later, and I will bring it up on my next apt which will be in a few wks. My Dr. has been great throughout this and I value and trust her opinion. She seems to think that I just needed a slight "reboot" to get back to this normal state and out of my funk. I tend to agree but the proof will be in the pudding in a few months I suppose.

Good luck man, you're lucky to have found a good Dr. I have not been happy with mine at all and is the main reason I'm gonna try to do it at first without her help. If it doesn't work I'll get back on the Cymbalta and find a new one.
My mental health history, or lack thereof, would indicate the "slight reboot" is what I needed as well. At least that's what I'm hoping.

I've done this before. I had awful side effects for close to a week. Including cold sweats, nauseated, no appetite, could not sleep and dizziness.
And, this is what my doctor told me to do. Switched doctors after that!
But, it all depends on how high of a dose you're on. If you're on a very low dose then it shouldn't be has bad as mine.

Good luck to you too. Life is a funny thing. I think the hookers and blow mentality has honestly helped me recently as well. The OT does know what it's talking about sometimes. Hell, Cymbalta could just be placebo effect
Posted on 2/15/17 at 11:56 am to RandySavage
Why was it prescribed to you?
Posted on 2/15/17 at 11:58 am to RandySavage
I quit klonopin after taking it for two years over the recent Christmas holidays.. was taking it to control panic attacks and anxiety
There was a day or two where I was feeling pretty shitty, but after that, I've felt no ill effects.. I've also lost 17 pounds in two months
And I swear getting off of it made my dick not as small

I'm not big into prescription meds- can you explain why?
Serious question - is it not an anti depressant?

It's a benzo. Anti-anxiety. Whole other class of drugs.

Klonipin is a benzodiazapine. Cymbalta is an SSNRI.
Klonipin is basically the solid form of alcohol. It acts almost exactly like alcohol in the brain. It's useful for acute anxiety, but the costs outweigh the benefits in most cases. Tolerance increases quickly, it can lead to dependence, and there is a rebound effect. If you truly suffer from generalized anxiety and/or panic attacks, you should talk with a psychiatrist about SSRIs. They are much more effective at treating chronic anxiety and panic disorder, and there is no abuse potential.
Cymbalta acts on two neurotransmitters associated with depressive symptoms. For someone that was suicidal, I would highly recommend not discontinuing it (especially a high dose) without talking with their doctor.

just go cold turkey, I quit paxil like 5 years ago and only experienced weird brain zaps. It was easy, but then again, i've withdrawn from opiates and benzo's and those are hell.

I take klonopin, it works on complete different gaba receptors in the brain compared to alcohol.
