I don't think this is true if they "win the lottery" aka get a top 3 pick. Unless its for a legit star.
Anything less than top 3, yeah, Dell is going to do Dell things.

I would expect us to be picking in the 9-12 range.
2015
Kaminsky
Winslow
Myles Turner
Trey Lyles
2014
Vonley
Elfrid Peyton
McDermott
Saric
2013
Trey Burke
McCollum
MCW
Steven Adams
2012
Drummond
Rivers
Myers Leonard
Jeremy Lamb
2011
Kemba
Jimmer
Klay Thompson
Alex Burks
2010
Paul George
Gordon Hayward
Aldrich
the great Xavier Henry
the last three 13th picks have been
Devin Booker
Zach Levine
Kelly Olynyk
The 3 before them weren't anything
that's 30 players drafted in that range in the last 6 years.
4 of them are great (PG/Hayward/Klay/Drummond)
4 of them are pretty good starters (Lavine/Booker/McCollum/Kemba)
3 of them are really good role player bigs (Turner/Olynyk/Adams)
The rest aren't really game changers at all.
So with that pick, based on history of the last 6 years, you've got around a 35% chance at getting a good starter, with around the same decent chance that guy ends up being a perennial all star.
I think i'd rather the chance than trade it away.
