Because folks like AARP, the big pharmaceutical companies, and former politicians turned lobbyist are making tons of money off the Affordable Care Act.

Still a lower cost than being uninsured and having to pay for a major procedure, wiping out everything you have.
A. Catastrophic coverage was available prior to ACA.
B. Have you ever seen the medical bills from cancer patients with excellent insurance? Still quite high.

It's not repealed bc gop donors and lobbyists make billions from it.
Yeah, this is the giant secret that everyone knows about.
Your GOP representative tell you they will repeal Obamacare on the campaign trail and in the DC Beltway they tell Tom Donahue and the US Chamber of Commerce and their big corporate memers, "don't worry, we won't repeal Obamacare".
It's truely disgusting.
Hopefully Trump starts to call out lame arse Ryan and McConnell.

Not if you have a pre-existing condition. And often it capped the coverage at a lifetime maximum - not very useful for those with chronic conditions or very serious oncology dx.

And yet, somehow lower than if they tried to get the same coverage without insurance. It's funny how that works.

Seems the solution would be to have insurance prior to that event.

Notice they voted over and over to repeal it when they knew Obama would veto? Notice that the GOP House never cut funds to Obamacare?
It's a very dangerous game they're playing. The electorate is angry enough to have voted for Donald Trump.
Let that sink in.

Well, I"m on it currently, so I'd like for them to have a viable solution before they just revoke it, you dumb frick.
If it ended tomorrow, it wouldn't mean your plan would end...
There just wouldn't be a gun pointed at your head to buy it.

The individual states should own that responsibility...I don't care how they do it.

Lowest uninsured rate in history speaks to that.
This is the most stupid thing to come out of Obamacare...
It's like saying Nazis had the most Jews covered for end of life plans...
When it's done at gunpoint, it isn't an accomplishment

Hey we got some great coverage rates, I mean sure it is fricking the middle class but look at them rates.
Especially given that most of that coverage is shite tier insurance that isn't worth much of anything.

And if you're born with it? Insurance before birth, or tough luck trying to make it in America?

It's not stupid, but it doesn't tell the whole story. It is true that the uninsured rate has dropped significantly, mostly due to Medicaid expansion. But it's also true that many that got coverage are afraid to use it because their deductible is so high.

Compare Medicaid enrollment in 2008 to 2016. 20 million more people are enrolled in Medicaid. Where have I seen that 20 million figure before?

I'd put it at a much lower level. The individual person should own that responsibility.

Congenital conditions are separate from not carrying insurance as an adult, unless it doesn't manifest until adulthood. In that case, I'd say that person should've been an adult and carried health insurance, or they can be an adult and deal with the consequences of their actions.
I'd probably support legislation that prevented insurance providers from denying children being added to their parents' existing plan. Not difficult stuff here.

If he didn't have a job, he'd be on Medicaid and the expansion wouldn't matter. The ACA helps the WORKING poor.
Idiot
And the working Middle Class (who do you think buys the gold plans-- its the self-employed people making 50-100k)
