I don't know how many perfect fits there are in the league and/or are coming into the league, though. The best you might hope for is a "good enough" fit. Which is why I can see the interest in Lopez

I mean, he is basically a super rich mans version of Ajinca and they just beat Memphis with that kind of center. Imagine if Ajinca was a good passer, didn't foul as much, and did everything he already does on offense 400% better. The fact that Lopez has to be respected out to 25 feet would open up all kinds of room for everyone

I get acquiring him for all those reasons. I get Vucevic for the rebounding element and an offensive game that is 200% of Ajinca and that has to be respected out to 18 feet. I can not and will not understand how Okafor helps though, unless they are moving Jones in a subsequent trade and he is essentially filling that role

Lopez may be the most talented of the targets but his cap figure is going to make it hard to add a $15+ million FA and have enough solid depth. It won't be quite as bad as the year they made the playoffs only after adding DC/QPon/Peak Norris Cole, but it will be a similarly top heavy roster to start the season.

Okafor may not be a great fit, but he is cheap if it doesn't work out and as you've long said, Dell's biggest problem is his optimism bias.

Vucevic seems to be the best mix of talent upgrade while not killing your cap so much that you can't have 8-10 NBA caliber players on your roster to start the season.

I really don't think a center is the answer to that question. What a 4 man unit of Holiday/AD/Hill and either DC/Jones is missing is another wing. Give me a guy that can score/create and play passable defense to add to those 4. The crazy thing is Tyreke checks so many of those boxes, it's a shame he couldn't adapt better.
