Taking the wife for our 10 year Anniversary. Staying @ Sandals Halcyon. Just looking for any feedback. Good or bad. Thanks!

St. Lucia is beautiful, you'll really enjoy it.
Try and leave the resort if you can - there are some beautiful little towns along the water, and of course hiking the Pitons is a must.
Have a Piton beer for me - the perfect tropical beer.

go outside of one of the three resorts and see the island.
Sandals food sucks except for the breakfast. make sure to tell bartenders how to make a drink or what liquors you want otherwise they will load you up with sugar.
They have changed the names, but is this the one on the hill or the smaller one. I dont think its the one next to the fort.

What is your flight like?

I believe it is the smaller one. I know it is between Grande & La Toc. Supposed to have just be renovated. Thanks for the heads up about the food & drinks.

New Orleans to Atlanta. 2 Hour lay over there then direct to ST. Lucia.

you are kind of in the middle of everything, which is good. The resort was the lesser of the 3 though(but this is prior to a reno you talk about) The Grande has the best beach and scenery imo
But again, I stress leave the resort, the island is cool. They like to keep you and your potential money on site.
I did a jungle tour and a boat charter around the island.

Just my opinion, but when we went on our Honeymoon back in 2011, the Halcyon was the least impressive of the 3. We stayed at the Regency and loved the cliffside view and food, but the Grande had the nicest beach. The bus ride to them all sucked though BTW.

We are heading out there at the beginning of March for our honeymoon, staying at cap maison. I know nothing about it, my fiancé did all the research. Hopefully its nice.
Has anyone played the golf course on the island? Is it decent? I'd like to play at least once while I'm out there but want to make sure it's worth it.

Stayed there a few years back. Great place. Very good food. Like others have said, travel off the resort. St Lucia is pretty safe and fun to explore
The rooms there are nice but its very humid. Also, the beach there is not great. The pool seemed to be where it was going on. Lots of honeymooners there as well.
The late night bistro is pretty good. Makes some good Nachos.
And my last piece of advice. Get drunk at the airport before you get in the cab/transport to go to the resort. Its a pretty good drive and its all mountains. You will need to be numb.. Drivers there pretty much do what they want
Have fun... Great place to relax

The Halcyon is the one with the restaurant out on the water.

wife and I honeymooned at LaToc last September and had an absolute blast. I highly recommend the Soufriere Fountain of Youth Tour. Awesome way to view the island in a day. You take a catamaran from Castries down the coast, tour a botanical garden, bath in natural hot springs, awesome waterfall, tour a coco plantation, snorkel, then get hammered on rum punch on the ride back.
We didn't go to Halycon but we did hit the Grand for a day. It's a much newer place and absolutely beautiful. Beach is really nice there. LaToc has great restaurants, bars and pools. Beach isn't that great. Enjoy your trip; can't go wrong with Sandals

Do the Joe knows tour. It's the best. Check at the front desk also to see if you get the free sunset cruise.
Sandals food was pretty bad, but it's what you pay for. La toc had a decent French place and the breakfast and lunch buffets were solid.
Drink wise, tell the bartender to make them strong or just get the piton beer.
Massages were good, but way overpriced.
Honestly, the best times we had were just waking up, having breakfast, then swimming up to the pool bar and getting drunk with people we befriended.

I wouldn't unless you wanna barf. The winding roads going up and down can make you really car sick.

This is spot on. We did the excursion one day, the grand one day and just chilled at the resort the rest of the time. Pool bar was the place to be and we had a blast meeting people and getting lit. The bartenders at the main pool were fun. They had music blasting, dancing and making really strong drinks. Not to mention we got upgraded to a cliff-side villa with a private pool. Had a hard time leaving that place.

We met a couple who had this so we went up there to hang out. It was nice.
We just had the beach front balcony. Still loved it though.
The English pub was awesome. We went there for the LSU Wisconsin game and got smashed and ate wings to forget the loss.

Glad someone else enjoyed that ride.

I thought I was going to die in st Lucia passing another car on a two lane, winding road.
