Why would it be a bad idea? The twitch community is massive and its not like anybody is going to stop watching real basketball because of this when 99% of fans won't know it exists. I don't give a frick about esports but there's nothing but upside for the owners. Good business move.

The Twitch community is massive centered around anything but sports games, NBA 2K is not even in the top 20 on twitch for viewers. That's why.

The feeling is mostly mutual in those communities, big eSports fans and players and their communities dislike "real" sports the same way people that like real sports hate eSports.

You will find Madden, NBA 2K, and even FIFA buried behind a ton of games on Twitch with very little viewership.
